Have a question? We’ve got you covered.

I am in a same sex couple, whose eggs would we use for IVF?

This might depend on a few factors such as age. Both partners in a same-sex couple may wish to have a fertility assessment (i.e a Hormone & Fertility Test Kit, and/or a Pelvic Ultrasound Scan)  that will help them decide whose eggs to use for treatment. One partner may choose to undergo IVF to create embryos using their eggs along with donor sperm and another may choose to carry the embryos. The partner who donated their eggs to their partner is referred to as the 'biological parent', whilst the other partner who carries the baby and experiences the pregnancy is referred to as the 'birth parent'. This is why it would be important to assess both partners' fertility and come to a decision based on the information given to you and will also depend on if either parent has the ability to carry a baby or wants to, if not then surrogacy can be used. Once you are referred to the fertility clinic, they will run more tests and will be able to provide you with the evidence to make informed choices. Our team of Hormone & Fertility Advisors are on hand if you’d like to know more about IVF and taking the next steps.
