Got questions?

What does a Fertility Advisor do?

+
Fertility advisors have a nursing/midwife qualification and either are, or were, practising nurses or midwives. Fertility Advisors have expert knowledge of various fertility services including different types of referral pathways, in addition to in-depth knowledge of fertility treatments such as IVF, egg freezing, IUI and diagnostic tools such as pelvic ultrasound scans. Advisors work with patients to help them understand which fertility treatments could be right for them depending on their individual circumstances.

How much does it cost to speak to a Fertility Advisor?

+
With Hertility, a 30 minute appointment with a Fertility Advisor is £39. You can also make 4 interest-free payments of £9.75 each with clearpay.

Do I need a referral to speak to a Fertility Advisor?

+
You don’t need a referral to speak to one of our Fertility Advisors. You can simply book a call at your convenience and choose an appointment time that suits your schedule.

When should I speak to a Fertility Advisor?

+
There is no right or wrong time to speak to a Fertility Advisor and everyone's reasons for booking a call are personal. These could include if you’re thinking about undergoing any fertility treatments, have queries about fertility clinics, if you’re looking for more information on any Hertility services or contraception advice.

When should I speak to a Private Gynaecologist instead of a Fertility Advisor?

+
Whether you choose to speak to a Fertility Advisor or a Private Gynaecologist, really depends where you’re currently at in your fertility journey and what information and advice you’d like to receive. We would recommend speaking to a private Gynaecologist if you’ve received any abnormal hormone test results, have a suspected or diagnosed reproductive health condition, are seeking any specialist clinical advice or looking to receive a personal care plan. Our Fertility Advisors are better placed to advise on any fertility treatments or general queries.

How is a Fertility Advisor different from a normal doctor or nurse?

+
Fertility advisors are specialists in fertility services and treatments that generally have a nursing/midwife qualification and either are, or were, practising nurses or midwives. They have expert knowledge of various different fertility services including different types of clinics and referral pathways, in addition to in-depth knowledge of any fertility treatments such as IVF, egg freezing, IUI and diagnostic tools such as pelvic ultrasound scans. Whereas a GP or a private Gynaecologist consultation would be focused on finding a diagnosis for any symptoms or issues and then prescribing a course of treatment, a fertility advisor is best placed to sign-post you to the correct services and offer advice and guidance on any treatments you are considering or have been recommended.

How long will my call last?

+
All calls with our fertility advisors last 20 minutes. This is usually plenty of time to cover any recommendations from our advisors and questions you may have. However, if you feel like you need more time or would like another call to discuss anything further, you can book another call, with the same or a different advisor, at any time from your health hub.

Do I need to prepare anything for my call?

+
Your fertility advisor will have your notes and any of your test results on hand, so there is no need to prepare anything for your call. You may however want to think about any questions or advice you’d like to ask.

What happens after my call?

+
After your call your fertility advisor will upload a clinical letter to your Health Hub. This letter will summarise the topics discussed in your call and outline any next steps or referrals.
