What is Intrauterine insemination (IUI)?
IUI (intrauterine insemination) is a fertility treatment where fresh or frozen-thawed sperm directly put into the uterus, timed with ovulation. Unlike IVF, it doesn't involve collecting eggs or creating embryos, though donor sperm can be used. It's a less invasive, lower-cost option that's often tried before IVF, but its success rates are lower, as a rough guide, around a third of IVF's and, like all fertility treatments, they depend heavily on age and the underlying cause. Our Fertility Advisors can help you weigh up whether IUI or IVF is the better fit.
